Private Montserrat Half Day Afternoon Tour with Cog-Wheel Train Travel by cogwheel train to the world-famous Montserrat Monastery, an 11th century Benedictine monastery hidden in the mountains near Barcelona. Surrounded by a shock of pink rock formations, the abbey is one of Spain’s most popular and beautiful religious retreats.
Take a private guided tour of the monastery. You will see the legendary Virgin of Montserrat, a venerated statue of the Madonna and Child who dates back to the 12th century. Learn about the monastery’s history, architecture, and what life is like for the 80 monks that call it home.
Next, enjoy complimentary liquor tasting and free time to explore the site. The basilica houses a wonderful art museum and one of the oldest active printing presses in the world.


This tour is provided on a reserved basis prior to departure. Passengers must contact the local sightseeing company upon arrival to reconfirm their tour.

Correct dress code is necessary for entrance to Montserrat Basilica; people wearing tank tops, strapless shirts, short shorts or sandals will not be permitted to enter.
This tour includes walking; we recommend comfortable shoes.
Montserrat is in a mountain climate; depending on the season you will need to dress for protection from rain and/or cold.
Tour does not operate on January 1, 5, June 1-4; September 11, 24 or December 25.
