Observe whales and sea birds in their own environment. Take part in an unforgettable adventure at sea.

Itinerary: Enjoy a magical journey into Faxafloi bay with an expert crew. Explore the whales of Reykjavik under the excellent guidance of our marine biologist guides and learn all about the incredible wildlife that call Iceland their home. Magnificent landscapes surround the area and add a unique contrast to the vast ocean. Board the whale watching boat with several outdoor viewing platforms, a heated indoor saloon with large viewing windows, a cafeteria where you can buy light refreshments, toilet facilities and a cloak room where you can borrow our blankets and overalls. You can stay outside in the fresh air, but you can also settle inside the heated lounge. One of our excellent naturalists will give a live commentary throughout the tour and notify you of any sightings as we go. The most common whale species viewed are the minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbor porpoises. Occasionally we see other species such as killer whales, fin whales, sei whales and long-finned pilot whales, however they are not as common. The bay is even full of birdlife, from puffins and gannets to guillemots and more, that actively feed on the plentiful fish found in the bay. The whales are most abundant in summer, giving us a great chance to enjoy and understand them in their natural environment. Each year continues to surprise us however with the variety of whales we see in winter, and research shows, more and more whales are staying in the area all year round!

Additional Information:
This is a wildlife excursion and as such we can never guarantee or predict sightings of any kind, but in case we don't encounter any whales or dolphins, we will offer you a return ticket so you can join us again another day (within 2 years) for FREE! The weather and sea conditions can be challenging during the winter months, and we often adapt by moving our vessels to harbors of more sheltered areas situated around the Reykjanes peninsula and transport our passengers there free of charge from our base in the Old Harbor. This change allows for a more comfortable and reliable winter whale watching adventure but departing from other harbors means that we may need to take a bus anywhere from 20-60 minutes away, where we can expect the duration of the tour to be around 3-5 hours in total. This tour is subject to weather and decent sailing conditions could get cancelled on short notice. In this case you will be offered the option of taking the tour on another day free of charge.
