Private Rome in A Day Tour The first place that we will visit is the great ancient symbol of Rome, the Colosseum, the imposing masterpiece of Architecture from the Ist century A.D., to learn about the gladiators and the emperors and the society that attended the bloody games. Then off to the ancient city center of Rome, the Great Forum, a beautiful and mysterious place where in front of ancient temples and basilicas we will recount to you the lives of some famous men from Cicero and J. Ceasar 's time.
After this unforgettable view and exploration of the ancient world, we will head over the Vatican area for a break for lunch - our guides have many good suggestions for restaurants in the area.
At the Vatican Museums, our primary aim is to see and experience the museums' most famous objects of art. We'll stop by the octagonal courtyard which holds some of the greatest statues in the world and then take a walk through the many halls of the museum to reach the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel. After a detailed explanation of the beautiful frescoes in these rooms by some of the greatest artists of the Renaissance, we'll exit the museums and take a look at the world's largest basilica. Walking through St. Peter's you'll see the highlights of this enormous church, and hear many anecdotes of popes, saints, and artists.
Then we'll take a stroll around some of the most beautiful squares of the Renaissance and Baroque time. We will take you through some famous fountains and piazzas of the city, such as Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona while you'll learn about famous artists and popes of the time. This is a wonderful time to take a stroll because Rome has cooled off from the heat of the sun and the temperature is quite refreshing. This one-day walking tour of Rome should be enough to give you a good taste of this magnificent city, and cover the main tourist attractions.
