Ride from Sorrento to Pompeii where you will have some free time to explore this important archaeological site. Continue from Pompeii to Herculaneum, which was covered in mud and lava rather than burned out by volcanic cinders. The mud served to protect some of the upper stories and mosaics.

We recommend closed-toe shoes for walking in the sand at Pompeii.
