Guests will explore the natural and cultural history of the famed Montserrat mountains, home to a medieval monastery and basilica, on this afternoon tour. Once they arrive at the city bus station at Estació del Nord in Barcelona, guests will find their tour coach waiting for them. From Barcelona, they will drive north through the picturesque Catalan countryside. Having reached the base of the mountains, guests will disembark and board the cable cars that take them to the monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, located on the mountaintop. They will enjoy the cable ride to the summit, admiring spectacular views of the countryside stretching all the way to the Pyrenees in the distance. At the top, they can explore the monastery and its remarkable setting amid towering peaks. Participants can also pay homage to the revered 12th-century Black Madonna, or La Moreneta, the patron saint of Catalonia, housed within the Royal Basilica of Montserrat. Guests will have the opportunity to visit the Montserrat museum with an audiovisual guide, and taste the region’s popular liquors, before returning to the city.
