Small Group - A day on the Island: Bute
Discover the beauty, history, and charm of the Isle of Bute on this full-day tour from Glasgow. Travel along the scenic shores of the Clyde Estuary, passing coastal towns like Greenock and Gourock before reaching the ferry port at Wemyss Bay. From here, sail across the Firth of Clyde to Rothesay, the island’s main town.
Explore Mount Stuart, a striking 19th-century neo-Gothic mansion known for its architecture, opulent interiors, and sprawling gardens. When built in 1877, it was among Scotland’s most innovative homes, featuring electricity and an indoor heated pool.
Continue with a panoramic drive along the island’s southern coast. Enjoy views of sea lochs, Highland peaks, and sandy beaches. Along the way, watch for local wildlife, including red squirrels and otters.
Return to Rothesay with free time to explore the town’s waterfront, visit historic castle ruins, or sample local fare. End the day with a ferry ride back to the mainland and a relaxing drive to Glasgow.
