Shared Tour- Eagles Nest
Rising 6,017 feet above Berchtesgaden in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, the Eagle's Nest — officially known as the Kehlsteinhaus — is one of the most haunting and historically significant landmarks in Europe. This morning tour departs from Salzburg and heads into Bavaria, with a first stop at Obersalzberg, the former mountain base that served as the Third Reich's second seat of government, where Hitler, Göring, and Bormann once held property. From there, travelers board specially equipped buses for an ascent along the dramatic 4-mile Kehlstein road — blasted through solid rock in just 13 months — before passing through a 124-meter marble-lined tunnel and riding a brass-clad elevator to the summit. Completed in 1938 and inaugurated on Hitler's 50th birthday, the mountaintop chalet served primarily as a diplomatic reception venue. Guests explore the conference room, dining area, tea room, and sweeping panoramic terraces as an expert guide illuminates the sobering history of this extraordinary site.
