Small Group Tour: Belvedere Palace Tour - Museum & Gardens
The Belvedere stands as one of Vienna’s most significant cultural landmarks, known for its exceptional collection of Austrian art. Travelers can explore 24 works by Gustav Klimt, including “The Kiss,” which remains one of the most celebrated paintings of the early 20th century. Housed within the Upper Belvedere, these masterpieces are displayed among grand baroque interiors that reflect the palace’s imperial past.
Originally built as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy, the Upper and Lower Belvedere were once surrounded by vineyards at the edge of the city. Today, the two palaces are connected by a terraced baroque garden renowned for its fountains, sculptures, and sweeping symmetry. Completed between 1717 and 1723, the Upper Belvedere sits prominently on a hill, offering striking views over Vienna.
The palace later became one of Europe’s earliest public museums and gained historical importance as the site where the Austrian State Treaty was signed in 1955.
