Reaching nearly 3,000 meters above sea level, this private tour from Catania takes adventure to new heights, quite literally, with a guided ascent to the summit crater zone of Mount Etna. The journey begins with hotel pickup in a 4×4, heading north to Piano Provenzana at approximately 1,800 meters. From there, a powerful Unimog 4×4 vehicle continues the ascent to between 2,700 and 2,900 meters, where a personal certified guide and a mandatory expert volcanological guide lead a short trek through otherworldly landscapes of volcanic ash, ancient lava flows, and active craters.

The raw, elemental scenery at this altitude stands in stark contrast to the lush vineyards below, where the tour concludes at a winery on the slopes of Etna. A tasting of three regional wines and a traditional lunch round out an experience that reaches from the volcanic summit to the heart of Sicilian gastronomy.

The Availability of the year-round tour is guaranteed only if there are favourable weather conditions and always in accordance with the regulations and safety provisions in place on the volcano.

The private vehicle will be either a Jeep Discovery or a Land Rover Defender. The 4×4 vehicle used for the ascent has a maximum capacity of 26 passengers and operates as a shared service. A guide is included for the ascent, and a dedicated AIGAE guide will also be provided.
