Shared Tour: E-Bike Tour of the Appian Way
Travelers follow one of Ancient Rome’s most storied routes on this guided cycling experience along the Via Appia Antica, long known as the “Queen of Roads.” Built to link Rome with southern Italy, this historic road later became a vital connection between the Roman and Greek worlds. Today, it forms part of one of the city’s most remarkable open-air archaeological parks.
The route begins near the Colosseum and continues past ancient thermal baths and one of the famous gates in Rome’s imperial walls. From there, guests ride over original Roman paving stones and through the green landscapes of Appia Antica Park and Caffarella Park. Along the way, they pass ancient towers, mausoleums, and the remains of Roman aqueducts.
This approximately 15-kilometer ride includes about 60 meters of elevation gain. Some dirt paths and more adventurous stretches make it best for confident riders.
