Small Group: Excursion to Xativa
Discover Xàtiva, a city where history, culture, and tradition intertwine in surprising abundance. Though modest in size with fewer than 30,000 inhabitants, Xàtiva boasts a legacy that once shaped the course of the Iberian Peninsula. Known as the cradle of the Borja family, two of whom rose to the papacy, the city became a center of influence for art, knowledge, and politics. Its streets have welcomed poets, intellectuals, and visionaries across the centuries, each leaving their mark on its cultural identity.
Xàtiva’s heritage extends even further back, as it was the birthplace of the son of the Carthaginian general Hannibal Barca, adding an ancient chapter to its story. Today, visitors encounter a destination filled with legends, historic landmarks, and culinary traditions that reflect its rich past. Xàtiva may not be widely known, but its treasures reveal a city that has long been at the heart of Mediterranean history.
