Shared Tour: Montserrat Half Day Afternoon Tour with Cog-Wheel Train
This tour offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the Montserrat mountain in Barcelona. Guests will be picked up from the meeting point and travel on a bus to the mountain, past interesting rock forms shaped over the centuries by wind and rain. Some of the peaks resemble human or animal shapes, giving rise to legends explaining their unique origins. Guests will be able to ride the Cog-Wheel Train up the mountain while admiring breathtaking views through its panoramic windows. The Royal Basilica of Montserrat at the top houses the famous 12th century Romanesque carving of Virgen Moreneta (The Black Madonna). The Benedict Sanctuary of Montserrat provides a mystical backdrop for the statue of this patron saint of Catalonia, who is said to have performed many miracles for pilgrims. The tour concludes with some free time for guests to visit the audiovisual exhibition about the history and creation of Montserrat, and sample the native liquors.
